Giant Panda, Ailuropoda melanoleuca
Giant Panda (Ailuropoda melanoleuca) - feeding on bamboo, snowy focus, Wolong Research and Conservation Centre, Sichuan Szechwan Province, Central China Order Carnivora, Family Ursidae, bear, well known for its 'thumb', which is actually a modified wrist bone that enables the panda to dextrously grasp bamboo stalks, inhabits inhabit montane forests, mixed coniferous & broadleaf forests, herbivore, solitary, Classified as Endangered (EN) on the IUCN Red List 2006, and listed on Appendix I of CITES.
Killer whales hunting seals on beach
Killer whale, Orca.Orcinus orca.The adult male known as "MEL", 45 to 50 years old when these images were taken (March 2006), hunting South American Sea lion pups on a beach at Punta Norte, Valdes Peninsula, Province Chubut, Patagonia, Argentina. Intentional stranding is a unique hunting strategy of the small population of Orcas in northern Patagonia. The sunset colors are reflected on Mel's wet skin.
