Giant Panda, Ailuropoda melanoleuca

Killer whales hunting seals on beach

Killer whale, Orca.Orcinus orca.The adult male known as "MEL", 45 to 50 years old when these images were taken (March 2006), hunting South American Sea lion pups on a beach at Punta Norte, Valdes Peninsula, Province Chubut, Patagonia, Argentina. Intentional stranding is a unique hunting strategy of the small population of Orcas in northern Patagonia. The sunset colors are reflected on Mel's wet skin.
